About Us

Working extensively In the rural, semi-urban and also urban areas in bhiwandi (District; Thane) of Maharashtra, this organization was founded in 1948 by shri Pandunag Dharmaji i.e P.D.Jadhav, populary known as Annasaheb. He traveled extensively establishing schools in remote villages in the 90 k.ms radius of Bhiwandi. He also promoted the concept of 'Ashram Shala' (Hostal School) for 'Adivasi / Tribal children, giving primary and also secondary schooling facilities. For his exemplary work and efforts to promote and give education to the lower and under-privileged classes, even in the smallest of villages. Annasaheb was honored by the President of India with the prestigious 'PADMASHREE' in 1971.

Annasaheb passed away in 1986, however had established 23 Schools, 8 primary & Secondary Ashram Schools, 8 Junior Colleges and 2 Senior government grants that took care of a good part of the operating expenses. The working of the organization was then taken over by other trustees; who unfortunately, lacked the capability, vision and passion that Annasaheb worked with. Within a few years the organization started experiencing financial issues that led to a chaos, mismanagement and further, differences within trustees. The Old constructions started giving way, and many of the premises started getting a deserted look, due to more reasons than one, including that of a shaky foundation of the school classes.

A new set of trustees was appointed under the leadership of Annasaheb's son, Shri Vijay Jadhav with Annasaheb closest aider Social workers & then office bearers in 2006. They worked overtime to ensure that schools were back in shape making proper allocation of funds received from kind donors, and encouraging many children from the under privileged community to get basic education, and thus, recreated the original ideas and goals of the organization. With their efforts, Padmashree Annasaheb Jadhav Bhartiya Samaj Unnati Mandal, through a network of 36 schools, Hostels and Colleges are now providing education to over 27000 childern in rural parts surrounding Bhiwandi in Thane District of Maharashtra. The network of schools cover small villages like Ambiste, Khalapur, Vikramgad, Khodala, Mokhada, Wada, Rayate, Khambala, Atgaon and where there are no other education facilities within a vicinity of 5 k.ms for 2000 to 8000 childern of the schooling age in respective areas. Government grants cover certain expenses that helps the organization to a large extent.
